Our Story
A Dream Come True
Established in 2023, Maitri is the commencement of a long-held dream. Our organization was founded by a group of Bangladeshi enthusiasts residing in the greater Houston community, who migrated to the United States from Bangladesh. Over the years, we have come together at mandirs (temples), shared moments in each other’s homes, and commemorated significant life events. Naturally, these occasions were accompanied by delectable khabar (food) and mishti (sweets). In due course, we recognized that our strong bond could be channeled into making a positive impact on the world around us, leading to the birth of Maitri.
Our primary aim in establishing this organization is to continue upholding our cultural and spiritual heritage. We aspire to pass down these cherished traditions and practices to future generations through religious celebrations and acts of service within the community.

Our mission involves addressing the needs of underserved populations through community mobilization efforts and strategic partnerships with local organizations, fostering positive impacts on individuals and communities throughout Houston.
Our organization aims to preserve the rich Bangladeshi culture, traditions, and religious observances by imparting spiritual teachings that promote the radiance of positivity, the spread of love, and selfless service at local, national, and global levels.
